To My Beloved Family, friends, Prayer Angels and faithful supporters:

Christmas is upon us and most of us are wondering what to give to our friends and loved ones, to celebrate our Saviors’ birth. My mind immediately goes to a different kind of giving. I am reminded of the time that Rev. Linda Harris and some of the folk from her church in Fort Worth decided to feed the hungry. Rain or shine, they made their way to the place where most of the homeless gathered and handed out sandwiches. Linda told me it was one of the most rewarding things she had ever done. At the time, she also met a young man, hungry and destitute, who hadn't spoken to his parents in years. They did not even know he was in Fort Worth. Miraculously, she was able to bring his family to Fort Worth where they were happily re-united and she saw them return home as a complete family. What a blessing!

And then there was the depressed and lonely man in Durban, South Africa, who wanted to commit suicide. On his way to the designated spot, he passed Berman's Bush and saw all the monkeys sitting around, looking totally miserable and hungry. Humans had taken so much of their habitat to build on, that there was little left for them to eat. He quickly made his way to various supermarkets and gathered up all the fruit and veggies that were too spoiled to sell and with a truck full of goodies, made his way back to the monkeys. For some reason, at 5p.m., the monkeys all came out of the bush, close to the road, hoping for a hand out. There came the truck, loaded with everything a monkey desired. The man pulled up in front of a group that had gathered together and before he knew it, the back of his truck was loaded with monkeys, stuffing themselves with every kind of fruit, bananas, peaches and veggies galore. This brought him such joy that he decided it was his mission to feed the monkeys and he completely forgot to commit suicide.

This is what I feel about Christmas. What can we do to help others? Give away extra clothing, especially coats and sweaters we don't ever wear? Take food to the hungry, visit the hospitals and jails or do something completely different that God will somehow lay upon our hearts? Whatever we do, let's make a difference this Christmas. Let's give where we have never given before. Let's love our friends and especially our enemies or those who despitefully use us. Let's smile, when we really feel like crying.

For some reason a smile is sometimes the very best gift we can give, as we reach out to touch other lives. God bless you richly. I so appreciate every one of you and earnestly thank you caring about me and my ministry.

Bill, Ken, Penny, Zach and I send our very best wishes for a joyous and blessed Christmas and a prayer that the New Year will fulfill all your greatest dreams and heartfelt longings.

I Love You,

Joan
